Nicholas K Fall 2009

I love the Nicholas K fall collection with it's mix of feminine and tough like an army jacket over a super girly dress and bomber jackets and army pants rolled up with boots.

One of the key pieces of the collection is a plaid shirt with an adjustable scarf collar ($225) shown here cinched in with a wide belt. Available from funkylala.com.

I also love the cut of the pants in this collection like these loose fitting black cropped pants that are very similar to the ones from Anthropologie I blogged about a few weeks ago.

Home on the Range

I am crazy about the look that Epperson designed on Season 6, episode 6 of Project Runway which aired last week.Tough, but feminine, if only this look was available commercially I would seriously buy it. Love the styling with the wide belt and boots too!

80's Glam

Sequin trousers and leggings are everywhere for Fall and seeing them on Heidi Klum last week on Project Runway dressed down with a loose tunic top and vest got me hooked.

There are a ton of options out there right now, but some are less "sequiny" than others. I like the ones that are completely saturated in sequins the best.

These Express sequin leggings ($98) are reasonably priced and would look great with a loose fitting black tunic top and flats or a long boyfriend blazer, heels and a t-shirt.

The Mango sequin trouser ($99) has a looser fit. Love it paired with this tuxedo jacket. These are not quite as sparkly as some, but like how they flow.

The Topshop sequin harem trouser ($160) comes in electric blue, pink and gold.

These LaRok silver sequin ($348)

leggings are pure rock n' roll with zippers at the ankle and pockets.

Not Your Average Oxfords

As you know if you read this blog I'm a huge fan of the menswear look. What better way to jazz up that look than with a pair of less than average oxfords? Here's a few I'm adoring right now...

Robert Clergerie

These metallic lace-up oxfords ($689) from Robert Clergerie don't even look real with their pewter mirrored finish. A similar pair is featured on model Lauren Hutton in the October issue of O Magazine. Available from Zappos.com.

Pour La Victoire

These burnished silver lace-ups ($226) from Pour La Victoire have more of a modern feel with the elongated toe. Also available in a burnished gold color from shopbop.com.

Elizabeth and James

These "Wicked" distressed suede oxfords ($295) from Elizabeth and James have more of a classic vintage look. Lover the dark grey color.

Rock Star Jeans

Hudson

I may be too old to rock these jeans now, but I love them anyway. Hudson 5-pocket skinny jeans with bits of the Union Jack peeking through. Definitely rock-star worthy! Doesn't look like they are even in stores yet, but will post when they are.

Notify

These snake-print skinny jeans ($330) from Notify have the look of leather, but the comfort of a jean. With boots or a pair of killer heels these would be fabulous to rock the night away.

Mellow Yellow

Mustard yellow pants are in for Fall and I have to say they are growing on me. They look great paired with grey or other neutrals. Here's a few styles to choose from right now.

Gap Stretch Cords

These colorful gap cords ($39.50) in gelded gold are made with spandex for a comfy fit. Sit below the waist with slim fit through hip and thigh. Pants also come in other colors like tangerine and bright pink as well as neutrals.

APC

These Zip Petit Standard cords from APC ($300) come in yellow and strawberry. With narrow leg, slightly fitted at bottom to give the appearance of a straight leg

J. Crew

The vintage matchstick cords in gold are now in sale for only $19.99. The straight, narrow leg is perfect with flats or tucked into boots. Pants have a a hint of stretch for the perfect fit.

Uncommon Scents

I am a huge fan of Kiehl's essential oil perfumes ($25) with rollerball applicator. My favorite is Amber, but they are also available in Musk, Vanilla, Coriander and Grapfruit and a few others.

These are vintage scents from the original pharmacy that they have brought back. Most of them could be worn by either men or women.

Lounge Pants

I just picked up a pair of Phillip Lim silk lounge pants at deep discount from Jeremy's in San Francisco. These baggy charmeuse silk pants are cropped and feature side pockets and a drawstring waist.

I'm so excited to mix these into my fall/winter wardrobe with heels and a boyfriend blazer or a belted cardigan. I may just live in them they are so comfortable.

Fab Flannel

I blogged about B'Sbee clothing months ago when I had picked up the most fab men's flannel shirt for myself. I literally live in this shirt when I'm at home. It's the softest, snuggly flannel and comes in this amazing color combo of olive green and bright blue. I bought a men's small for myself, but this shirt would be great for that man in your life as well.

This shirt is now available on yoox.com for $109. That is how much I paid during a 50% off sale in the winter so definitely a good buy.

The Eze Sur Mer Commune Top ($110) is another great flannel that I am sure would become a wardrobe staple.

What's cool about this shirt is that the back has little buttons to keep the waist nipped in. Available in purple as shown as well as navy blue. You can find these shirts at shopplanetblue.com.

Southwestern Jewelry

Turquoise is my birthstone and I love big chunky jewelry so I was ecstatic to find this website with a treasure trove of vintage and new southwestern jewelry. Here's a few of my favorite pieces from the site or visit http://www.southwesternjewelry.net/ to see the full inventory of great pieces.

I love this contempory Navajo bracelet with a deep green Armenian turquoise stone ($850). An unusual color for turquoise with flecks of copper running through it. I like the dramatic simplicity of the silver setting.

This vintage Navajo concho was reshaped and set on a piece of saddle leather ($550) making it a blend of old and new. Has a buckle fastener so it can be adjusted to fit different size wrists.

This vintage coral and turquoise ring ($225) has a very modern and unusual setting. Looks like it could have been crafted by a contempory artist. Navajo made in size 7 1/2.

I ♥ Ronson

Who knew that JCPenny had gotten so hip? Their I 'Heart' Ronson line has several cute pieces at really great price points. Most of the pieces are less than $40!

The pegged pants ($29.99) in grey are tempting, but I wouldn't order online without knowing how they fit.

I will try out this ruffled peacock blouse ($29.99) with a slit neck in polyester. Love the color palette, hopefully the fabric is wearable!

2 Bandits

Want to jazz up your boots and make them look like a completely different pair? Bandits boot accessories are just the trick. Available in colorful woven fabrics with a non-slip backing so they will stay put. They slide over your boot with an adjustable strap for tightening.

I love the Marrakesh Express ($58) with a gold moth and red micro-suede straps that hang down.

The Santa Fe ($44) would also be great over a pair of cowboy boots or basic brown Frye boots.

Haute Hippie

I am totally inspired by this shaggy fur vest ($895) from the Haute Hippie Fall collection. I think I will actually try to sew my own version of this long vest. I'll let you know how it comes out!

I would pair this vest with with some grey pencil jeans and grey boots like these Kimchi Blue Suede boots ($88) from urbanoutfitters.com. Or, maybe a drapey silver or gray jersey skirt and some chain mail jewlry.
